If it is to be it is up to me
Animal abuse is reflected in our own abuse of each other as human beings. Violence and abuse on the planet can seem the norm, but it must not be so.
How can I help? I can help by serving as a medium who spreads awareness. It is in awareness I am able to spread awareness to others, which reflects back to me more awareness, — through the millions of readers to come.
Just for today, I am happy. Seven is the number of completion. I can say, “I did it!”
Knowledge is power. We all have exponential untapped powers we are not even aware we have. One of these powers is the power to stop animal cruelty. We can do this by not participating in its exploit. By not participating in the exploit, we bring the plight of these helpless animals into public view, so people can judge for themselves.
Wild animals (of all nature) are kidnapped from their mothers at a very young age, held captive against their will to deal with post trauma stress disorder PTSD; their needs unmet; prisoners, forced to perform in an unnatural settings before crowds of people. In the case of the Orka whales, they are then slid back into a bathtub, where they remain captive, unable to move, until the next day’s performance, where they live out nightmares of the worst sort.
And we as human beings stand by,
watch, and
applaud.
That’s Entertainment one says.
It is unacceptable in this day and age. We are not ancient Romans, clamoring to get a seat at the Coliseum to witness the blood and killing.
“While you’re at it, get me a Coke and a hotdog. Make it two,”
says One, not thinking, pigs gave their lives, their guts, and their feet from the squeak to the tail to provide his hotdog. This sort of blind eye we give to the plight of animals is not acceptable, not for Orka whales, nor pigs, nor human beings. We must put an end to abuse for profit, at the very least control it, the captivity of these highly intelligent animals, debatably more intelligent than humans, is worth our time. I am convinced they are smarter than I am.
See the film Blackfish.

Decide for yourself.
If you have seen the film, encourage others to view it with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Speak up. Speak out. Step beyond your comfort zone. We must stand up for something or we are liable to fall for anything. It may as well be this.
The unanswered cries of these animals in pain hurts us all. I urge everyone to watch the movie, refrain from participating in anything related to Sea World, sign petitions, and speak up.
Blackfish is the name given the great Okra whales by early Eskimos. If you are a teacher, bring this awareness to your faculty, get them engaged not only on a personal level, but discuss how the film can be used in a classroom environment. Share the experience through teaching. If not for the power of spreading knowledge, why does anyone become a teacher? I did it for the prestige, for the glamor, and the ten weeks of vacation, unpaid, which I often worked to pay for this addiction I have called eating.
Please speak up. Encourage others to speak up, to be themselves. I can do this by making a conscious effort to improve my listening skills. Tilikum’s plight fits into my mission to harness the power of media to entertain,
enlighten, and heal.
I never anticipated Tilikum’s entry into my life, but sometimes entertainment is not pretty, as in the PTSD I share with Tillikum. Every week, I re-learn that when my writing teacher Bea, comments upon my writing:
“Who cares?” she asks, as I pour out my heart through my week’s work at the keyboard.
“You know I love you” she adds, “but scratch it.”
There is one life.
This life is God, as I see Him or Her.
This life is perfect.
It is my job, my purpose, to align myself with this life
Him or Her
as I understand It,
and I know,
this life is my life now.
I accept it all, everything that comes my way, knowing it is part of God, as I am a spark of this Life, this Love.
I must only align myself
learn to go with the flow rather than against it.
I am thankful for knowing, I possess the power to change the world through my thoughts, words, and deeds. I can only do this by focusing on myself; my world; my life; this life, God’s life.
That means I’ve kicked my ego out the door, where he sits outside the gates of my mind, trying to get a peek.
But the guards keep shooing him away.
I, Alan, and you insert your name here, let go of all my thoughts, my worries and concerns.
Mon repos.
My rest.
I let it all go.
And so it is.
Amen.
